Procomm Site Services were experiencing numerous issues with their current website, including slow performance, poor usability, a degraded mobile experience, and underwhelming customer engagement. Their staff couldn’t easily update the website themselves either, finding the whole process of doing so extremely frustrating.
Procomm decided to find a new way forward with their web presence, so they approached me to help solve their issues with a new website. They wanted the new website to use their existing content featuring a more modern look and feel, and a better experience for both the user and the client. In addition, they asked for several new improvements to help improve customer engagement and qualify leads. They also wanted to be able to add, edit and remove content themselves, through an intuitive and easy-to-use content management system.
Based on the brief, my first step was to audit Procomm’s website. I discovered a number of further improvements to be made, including GDPR compliance, cookies policy, navigation, information hierarchy, user experience, security, SEO, page file size, load speed, and more. The insights from the audit along with the brief allowed me to form a proposal and plan, and from this, a content strategy and wireframes were created.
Once the wireframes were approved, the design quickly took shape and it wasn’t long before I started to develop the site. At the same time, I’d researched their requirements for a content management system that was intuitive and easy to update, and decided upon Craft CMS due to its feature set and ease of use, alongside its continuous updates and accessibility improvements. The website came together quickly, allowing me to spend additional time optimising for lead generation, accessibility and performance.
Since the new website launched, Procomm has seen an astounding 12x increase in sales enquiries from the site. The number of users has increased by 83%, while the bounce rate has reduced by 10%. The pages on the site now load up to 85% faster too, with page size reduced by up to 88%, despite being more image-heavy.
The new website running on Craft CMS has made it much easier for the team to update, giving them full control over all their online content. There have also been huge improvements made with accessibility on the site, so users who are hard of sight are now better catered for. The site is also optimised as a progressive web app, allowing Procomm and their users to install it on mobile and tablet devices.
